Teaching

As an undergraduate educator my responsibility is to guide students from an instructor-centered educational paradigm to a learner-centered environment, where they can be enthusiastic self-guided learners and teachers to their fellow classmates. I aim to help students build the confidence necessary to take responsibility for their own independent research and career development in both computer science and information systems. I see my role in orienting students to these fields as not only providing the technical skills needed but helping students understand that it is a combination of technical knowledge, general business skills, and communications skills that will provide them the greatest opportunities. My teaching objectives include providing an environment that fosters critical thinking and facilitates the acquisition of life-long learning skills. These objectives are reached by incorporating methods into the classroom that develop problem-solving skills and help prepare students to function effectively in a global economy. I am a strong believer in continually reevaluating and adjusting pedagogical methods based on student needs and feedback.
